Titan Fleet Yards is Harry Doddema’s personal Star Trek and general science fiction weblog.

A short history

TFY started early 2000 as Prakesh’s Star Trek Site, a small website with some of my images and bit of text. This was the time when free webhosts could still be found, that didn’t have many advertisements and provided reasonable services. Despite that, a few times I had to relocate. I haven’t kept any backups of the very first version, and all I really know is that in August 2000, I moved the website to a new host and renamed it Titan Fleet Yards (TFY, August 2000, Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine).

Around April 2000, the second version of TFY was launched (TFY, April 2001), featuring a new black style and lots of images. It was also the first time I added the “Federation member list”, my pet project that survived all subsequent versions (and will return to this blog in some new form in the future).

In the summer of 2002, it was time to move to another host again, and it was paired with yet another redesign (TFY, June 2002). This redesign even got me an EAE Award from Bernd! The new design turned out to be a bit of a hassle to keep up to date, and a year later, around June 2003, I opted for a much more simplistic design (TFY, June 2003).

This fourth version of TFY lasted for quite awhile, and even made the transition from the free hosting to my own domain, which I finally bought in 2004 (TFY, October 2005). Although TFY now had its own domain name, and was easier for me to keep up to date, for some reason it still stalled.

In June 2008 then, this incarnation of Titan Fleet Yards was born. With no Star Trek on television, my interests have also turned towards Doctor Who, Lost and Battlestar Galactica. The Star Trek universe is still the most exciting one for me, but I might also talk about other shows and science fiction in general on the new TFY.
